Nagasaki Okunchi Festival (Minshuku Ryokan Tanpopo)

The festival is one of the three biggest festivals in Japan taking place in Nagasaki for three days from Oct. 7 to 9 every year. Throughout the festival, Nagasaki city is decked out with performers and dancers.

Dance performed: Traditional Japanese dance
Festival show performance: Ryu-odori (Dragon dance), Kasa-hoko (Umbrella float - about 130kg to 150kg), Hikimono (Ship with wheel - call "motte-koi," meaning bring it when you see hikimono.)

35th "Yufuin Ushikui Zekkyo Taikai" (Hasuwa Inn)

Yufuin Ushikui Zekkyo TaikaiYufuin Ushikui Zekkyo Taikai (Beef Eating and Shouting Contest) is one the most popular events in Yufuin, Oita. At the event, you can eat Yufuin beef and the audience enjoy what you shout to them.

Light-up Promenade NARA 2009 (Ryokan Seikan-so)

Thia is an annual event which illuminates historical sites and buildings in Nara, including Todaiji temple, Kofukuji temple and many others.

Date: From July 18 to September 27
Time: 19:00-22:00 (18:00-22:00in September)

Shimanami Sea Road Cycling (Komecho Ryokan)

Cycling road from Onomichi, Hiroshima to Imabari, Ehime. It takes about 8 hours to run down through whole road.

You can drop off a bike at the designated points and many hotels and inns.

Shitennoji Temple (Tabinoyado Hokousou)

Located just a 5 minutes walk from Tabinoyado Hokousou in Osaka, this temple established by Prince Shotoku in 593 and it's the first Buddhist temple in Japan.

On the 21st of every month, called "Otaishi-san", open stalls line up inside the temple and along the street from Tennoji station to the temple, selling commodities and antiques.

"Toro Nagasi" (Ryokan Yamazaki)

"Toro Nagasi" (Lantern Floating Ceremony) is a cultural event sending off the spirits of the dead on lanterns floating on the water. It's held on the last day of "Obon".

Jizo-Bon Festival held in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. Jizo-Bon is a local festival for children held in right after "Obon", mid of August, all over Japan.
