"Toshiya" (Hall Archery) at Sanjusangen-do Temple (Ryokan Kyoraku)

New year event: Hall Archery at Sanjusangen-do Temple, Rengeoin
- This event is also called "Sanjusangen-do Toshiya", originally started in the Momoyama era (the 16th century), and it is a Japanese archery competition shooting arrows through a 60-meter corridor at the temple.

When: January 17, 2010  From 9:00 to 15:30
Where: Sanjusangen-do Temple

The 24th Nihonkai Takaoka Nabe Festival (Daibutsu Ryokan)

Nabe (Hot Pot) Festival in Takaoka, Toyama, the biggest winter event at the city
- About 15 kinds of Nabe cooked with aluminum or copper pot, which is one of the Takaoka's major industries, will be served. Enjoy fresh seafood from the Japan Sea and local vegetables!

Here in wintry Nagano, we are looking forward to our spring event: the apricot blossoms of Chikuma City's "Anzu no Sato" (Apricot Village).

The Anzu trees' delicate pink blossoms, pastoral setting and snow-capped Alps in the background will delight you.

  • Access:  Shuttle bus from Yashiro Station on local Shinano Railway Line (or 20 minutes by car from Kamesei Ryokan).
